In this webinar, an overview of the Danish low vision services "Better light, better living" will be presented, including the lighting assessment and intervention and the results from the pilot study. The research collaboration and its outcomes will be discussed, and an overview of current work will be shared. Danish examples such as the "N-Lited" and "The role of lighting when vision changes" projects will illustrate how to utilize architectural and lighting-design practices to improve quality of life and empower people with low vision and people with changing vision due to age.

An overview will be provided of the societal and cultural meanings assigned to time and how that can facilitate internalized ableism in neurodivergent clients, along with what time blindness can look like behaviourally and the common thoughts that clients have. This webinar will provide research-informed alternatives to ableism in pediatric occupational therapy practice with autistic children. Five examples will be provided of unique autistic neurobiology that occupational therapists should honour and apply to assessment and intervention when working with an autistic population. The definition and application of neurodiversity-affirming and strengths-based practice as well as a roadmap to embrace this paradigm will be provided. Furthermore, practical approaches will be taught for evaluating autistic strengths and challenges, developing neurodiversity-affirming goals and accommodations, and creating strengths-based goals.
