Practical leadership skills are crucial for occupational therapists in Canada to thrive in dynamic health care environments. Occupational therapists utilize leadership skills in various ways, including advocating for clients, advocating for the profession, interprofessional collaboration, influencing policies, career advancement, mentorship, adapting to changing health care landscapes, and continuous improvement in service delivery.
The webinar provides a comprehensive overview of various key topics related to leadership in the context of occupational therapy, including an introduction and orientation to leadership in health care. Different leadership styles and their application will be explored as participants begin to identify their own leadership style and develop awareness of practical skills and behaviours based on the LEADS in a Caring Environment (Canadian College of Health Leaders, 2021) health leadership capabilities framework. Tips will be provided on how to integrate leadership skills into daily practice and participants will be encouraged to continue their leadership journey beyond the webinar.
After taking part in this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Identify different leadership styles, and begin to identify their own leadership style.
- Have tips on how to integrate leadership skills into their daily practice.
- Gain an understanding on next steps on how to continue their leadership journey.
