From overwhelmed to energized: How to prevent burnout as an OT (September 16, 2025)

Recorded On: 09/16/2025

Presented by: Zara Dureno

Burnout is a growing concern for Canadian occupational therapists (OTs) due to increasing workload demands, high emotional labor, and the challenges of balancing client care with personal well-being (Gupta et al., 2012). OTs require essential strategies to manage stress, prevent burnout, and maintain a sustainable, fulfilling practice, ensuring long-term career success and improved client care.    This webinar will focus on preventing burnout in OTs by addressing physical, emotional, and mental challenges. You will learn self-care tools, nervous system regulation, boundary-setting, and strategies for work-life balance. The webinar will help recognize burnout signs, build resilience, and develop action plans to stay energized and engaged in OT careers.

After taking part in this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify early signs of burnout and recognize factors contributing to occupational stress in their practice.
  2. Apply evidence-based strategies for self-care, boundary-setting, nervous system regulation, and stress management to prevent burnout.
  3. Understand the importance of resilience and develop personalized action plans to maintain work-life balance and long-term career well-being
